Each year there are opportunities in Lent and Advent to think more deeply about faith in Jesus Christ.
On Wednesday evenings at 7.30 pm during Lent, combined with the Parish Churches of Newnham and Grantchester, and the German Lutheran Church, we are delighted to be hosting a series of evenings looking at the Apostles' Creed.
All are welcome. Each evening will begin with a keynote address by the speaker followed by an opportunity over coffee in an informal atmosphere for questions to be asked. Our speakers will choose an aspect of the Creed which interests them.

You might like to read Rowan Williams's accessible book Tokens of Trust as a background for our discussions, or in any case! But, of course you needn't read anything before you come along - you can just come and be inspired!
Professor Richard Bauckham led us in two Advent explorations in 2011. After preaching at Evensong he led fascinating discussions on the themes: 'The Future of Creation' and 'The Future of Jesus Christ'. We were very pleased to be able to welcome him. Richard was Professor of New Testament Studies at St Andrew's University and is currently Senior Scholar at Ridley Hall. You can download notes for these sermons here.
In previous years we have looked together at the Archbishop of York's Advent Book 'The meaning is in the waiting' by Dr Paula Gooder and reflected in depth on the Parable of the Prodigal Son, with the help of Henri Nouwen's, 'The Return of the Prodigal'.
| I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. | ||
