Junior ChoirJunior Choir

Trumpington Junior Choir is a growing, happy bunch of  about 20 singers from primary school year 1 upwards with age/ability specific training groups as well.

We sing new and familiar songs and learn more about how to sing. We perform at the All Age services once a month where we not only get a chance to showcase our singing, but also add joyful music to this lively service. We are also seen at local events such as Summer fairs. Anyone who enjoys singing (or who wants to enjoy it more!) is welcome.

We meet on Thursdays 6.00pm-6.45pm (in school term-time) at the Bakehouse,1a Grantchester Road, with Sarah Atkins, Emma Hopegood, Daniel Trocmé-Latter and Gareth Atkins.

If you would like to join us, please e-mail Sarah Atkins. Christingle 2010 junior choir close up

Worldsong 9 April 2012

Thank you for your fantastic singing and support for our trip to the Royal Albert Hall on Easter Monday.

Trumpington Junior Choir joined 700 other young people from across the UK to sing with the 700 singers of the combined National Youth Choirs of Great Britain in an Olympic Gala. It was an exhilarating musical experience entitled 'Worldsong' which incorporated songs from Sweden, Bangladesh, Venezuela and Southern Africa. We were inspired by the skill and enthusiasm of the young singers and instrumentalists and heard some fantastic arrangements of familiar and new pieces. We sang our hearts out in our Worldsong pieces - it was amazing to hear so many children singing together with such energy and character. Other highlights included tea in the rain on the Albert Memorial, the family coach trip and the amazing feeling of looking around and above us in the enormous Royal Albert Hall.

Here are just a few of the singers at the regional workshop held here at Trumpington Church in early March, led by the composer Mike Brewer. It was an inspiring afternoon and the sound was amazing.

More photos of the concert trip itself to follow.

A DVD of the concert is available for £16. Ask Sarah for details.

Something for the parents...Junior choir at the Autumn bonfire social

Would you like to join in? This term we're running a special slot 6.45-7.10pm on Thursdays for parents/carers of Junior Choir members. You don't have to be an expert and there's no audition! Come along and join the older girls and the Church Choir to learn a simple anthem for All Age services. Simply turn up on as many Thursdays as you can.

Beautiful music, easy to learn, fun to sing! All abilities welcome.

Social events

We love to get together for a trip, film, or party to celebrate. Here we are at the Hendy's bonfire in September 2011. Have you got an idea for this summer's get together?
